Raynham Hall

Embark on a private tour of Raynham Hall, home to the Townshend family for nearly 500 years and lovingly restored and cared for by people who live and breath it.

Rarely open to the public, hear the stories of a home a century ahead of its time,  created in 1619 by Sir Roger Townshend - an untrained, gentleman architect with highly accomplished plans and inspired by architectural innovation.  The hall was once home to Charles Townshend, 2nd Viscount Townshend, who was leader of the House of Lords in the 17th Century.  The hall is perhaps most known as a haunted location - being the scene for the most famous ghost photo of all time, The Famous Brown Lady Descending the staircase, which is known world wide as irrefutable proof of spirit existence.

 

Bure Valley Railway & Mississippi paddle boat cruise

Delight in a nostalgic steam train single journey through the beautiful Bure Valley from Aylsham to Wroxham, on Norfolk's longest narrow-gauge railway, through the unspoilt countryside and idyllic villages of the Norfolk Broads before embarking on an enlightening cruise on a Mississippi Paddle Steamer, crossing no less than 17 bridges, passing quaint thatched cottages,  windmills and ancient churches alongside reed beds rich with the unique local wildlife.
